Welcome to Our Stories, we're glad you found us. We promise to not only read your story--we promise to give you a customized review about your short story. That's what we do at Our Stories, it's a little different--we hope you like it. If you've submitted with us before, simply log in on the left and submit your work. If not, below you'll find some guidelines to help you through the process.
  • Get your work ready in a Microsoft Word Document. This is important, we only accept stories in a .doc/x format. If you are submitting three stories then you should save all three stories in one document.
  • Each short story should be less than 6,000 words. Anything less than 6,000 is cool. During our Flash Fiction contest stories considered should be under 1,000 words.
  • We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you manually withdraw your submission as soon as you receive word that you are accepted elsewhere.
  • If you are submitting to our iSub category, please paste your flash fiction in the comment field.
  • Our Stories is an online publication and publishes on a quarterly basis. The Best of Our Stories Volume 1-4 are now in print and Volume 5 coming the fall of 2011.
  • We do not accept novel excerpts at this time.
  • Yup, flash fiction is fine.
  • Nope, we don't publish poetry.
  • If someone else submitted payment for you PLEASE notate this fact in the comment section of our system.
  • Every quarter we publish between four and six stories.
